Description

The hardware test center is an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited power measurement lab that supports regulatory tests and EPA Energy Star power consumption measurements throughout products' lifecycles. The electrical test technician applies developed technical knowledge, learned regulatory standard knowledge and thorough understanding of test procedures / equipment to complete a wide variety of technical tasks.

Test Responsibilities:

• Flicker (voltage fluctuations) – IEC 61000-3-3

• Harmonics (current emissions 2nd to 40th harmonic) – IEC 61000-3-2

• Energy efficiency certifications – Energy Star, Blue Angel, Lot 26, etc.

• Input Current – IEC 60950

• Heating (temperature profiles)

• Hi-pot (Dielectric strength)

• Equipment calibrations and maintenance.

• A2LA and TÜV accreditation audits

• Direct the daily tasks and provide ongoing training to designated assistant technician

Requirements

Education and Experience Required:

• Associate's / Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 4-6 years of experience.

• Good understanding of fundamentals of electricity and electronics

• Familiarity with regulatory standards such as Energy Star and Blue Angel

• Familiarity with Laser printer / electro-mechanical office machinery operation (preferred)

• Programming skills (C is preferred)

• Experienced using scope, multimeters, analyzers, and power systems.

• Familiarity with Windows OS, Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic

• Ability to work with different commercial software

Knowledge and Skills:

• Technical judgment and critical thinking.

• Self-starter with ability to prioritize.

• Able to maintain impartiality and unbiased by coercion

• Works well with others and independently. The primary tech works with a wide variety of people with divergent agendas and opinions; tenacity is an important trait.
