What is the role?
Michaels Energy is seeking a sales professional with experience working with utility programs. The Energy Efficiency Outreach Specialist will interact with facility managers and business owners for energy efficiency programs in Virginia. This position will focus on prospecting and recruiting commercial and industrial customers to participate in a new construction program. This position is the main point of contact for customers and will facilitate their efficiency program journey from start to finish. We are looking for someone with strong outreach and communication skills and who has a passion for energy efficiency and will exemplify our core values.
Customer Management
Create and execute a sales plan for the program
Identify and engage the target market for participation in energy efficiency programs
Enroll customers to meet program goals
Act as the customer’s point of contact for all projects
Network and partner with service providers, utility representatives, account managers, key industry contacts, national accounts, and end-users
Promotes utility rebate programs to customers
Assists with project planning
Collaborates with subject matter experts to identify energy efficiency opportunities
Lead presentations to educate customers on the program
Project Management
Communicate and coordinate project activities with utility representatives, end-users, and other stakeholders
Maintain a pipeline of customers
Manage project progress to a deadline
Promptly address client concerns to assure problem resolution and promote long-term productive relationships.
Project Administration
Provide status reports to the program delivery team
Collaborates with engineers, office personnel, facility managers, trade professionals, and utility staff to achieve customer goals
Maintain program data in a database
Track customer information in CRM software
Document customer meetings and activities
Follow and/or create program processes

Requirements
What are we looking for?
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
A minimum of two years of experience combining: Utility Energy Efficiency Programs, Account Management, Technical Sales, or Business to Business Sales
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Outstanding organizational skills
Interest in energy efficiency and building systems
Ability to travel regionally up to 50% for customer meetings and occasional overnight travel to the company headquarters
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with building mechanical systems (HVAC, lighting, hot water)
Experience with sales and marketing
Connections to building and facility managers or contractors in Virginia
Where can you work?
Richmond or Norfolk/Virginia Beach regions
Work from home, in the office, or a hybrid within the Richmond or Norfolk/Virginia Beach regions
