What is the role?

Michaels Energy is seeking a Software Product Manager with a desire to lead the delivery of all aspects of software delivery: budgets, goals, timelines, processes, strategy, and communication. This position will collaborate with the Software Development Manager to coordinate the development/acquisition, implementation, and maintenance of software applications for both internal and external use. We are looking for someone who will live our company values and has a technical understanding of software, an understanding of the energy efficiency industry, and knows how to translate this knowledge into effective solutions for internal and external clients.

 

Creative Solution Development

·         Lead ongoing assessment of Michaels’ software assets & capabilities.

·         Collaborate with relevant internal staff and vendors to guide the vision for software-related solutions proposed to new clients and customers.

·         Drive continuous improvement to software processes, workflows, and integrations.

·         Research new business applications and trends.

 

Customer/Client Engagement

·         Gain a deep understanding of external client/internal customer needs; identify and fill product gaps and generate ideas that enhance business value, improve user experience and drive growth.

·         Meet with Operations Product Managers to ensure we are meeting necessary functional and reporting requirements.

·         Manage and administer corporate communications for the software department, e.g., software updates, platform availability, strategic announcements, user surveys.

 

Application Access & Training

·         Serve as the primary administrator for key platforms like QuickBase & HubSpot and provide backup account administrator support to the IT Manager for other software tools.

·         Lead the preparation, deployment, and continuous improvement of software training curriculum and assets for the company.

How do you contribute?

After 3 months, you will have….

  • Learned Michaels’ internal processes and business practices
  • Gained knowledge of Michaels’ software solutions
  • Begun implementing Lean/Agile framework for software development

After 6 months, you will have….

  • Led impact planning meetings
  • Established, in concert with the Software Development Manager, an 18-month roadmap for software development
  • Developed and deployed a software training framework for Michaels’ employees


Requirements

What are we looking for?

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or similar
  • 3+ years of related experience in Product Management
  • Expertise in Lean, Agile and/or DevOps frameworks
  • Superior project management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel to up 5% to Michaels’ offices, client visits or training

Remote or any of the Michaels Energy office locations: La Crosse WI, Minneapolis, MN, Cedar Rapids, IA, Denver, CO, Chicago, IL, and Richmond, VA.

Pay Range

$85,000 – $115,000 + regional adjustment if appropriate
