As the Energy Resource Planning Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in our energy transition efforts—adding new generation, piloting innovative technologies, and modernizing our grid. You’ll work closely with teams focused on distributed energy resources, transmission and distribution planning, and emerging technologies like electric vehicles, virtual power plants, and customer-owned generation and storage. You’ll report directly to the Manager of Energy Planning & Innovation and be a key member of the Resource and Innovation Planning leadership team. You’ll also represent Colorado Springs Utilities in community discussions, executive briefings, and regulatory forums—so if you thrive in high-impact, public-facing roles, this is the job for you.
*This position will be filled as either an Engineering Supervisor (if the selected applicant has an engineering degree), or a Planning Supervisor (if no engineering degree).

Your leadership will drive:
- Development and execution of a 5-year strategic plan aligned with organizational goals
- Annual updates to Electric and Gas Integrated Resource Plans to ensure cost-effective, reliable, and sustainable energy
- Oversight of the Plexos electric and gas resource model
- Coordination of stakeholder groups to refine planning inputs and assumptions
- Support for acquiring new energy resources and our transition to a Regional Transmission Organization
- Recommendations for long-term sustainable changes to our Energy Business Model
- Leadership in grid modernization projects and technical research on industry advancements
- Financial stewardship through budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
- A proven track record of implementing creative and forward-thinking resource and strategic plans
- Experience in electric or gas resource planning, including integration of Distributed Energy Resources and Regional Markets
- Formal, direct management experience of engineering, planning and analytics staff
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, finance, data science, or a related field (a master’s degree and Professional Engineer registration are preferred)
- You’re comfortable presenting to large groups, executive teams, and regulatory bodies—and you’re excited to be a public-facing ambassador for energy innovation
